Meet the Director & Teachers

Carla Emerson opened Children’s World Learning Center in the summer of 1983 after spending several years teaching preschool and kindergarten. She earned her BA degree from California State University and holds a California Life Credential in the field of Child Development Programs. As Director of CWLC, she oversees the day to day operations of the Center and supervises her loyal staff of teachers and teacher assistants. Carla enjoys traveling  with her husband and cooking for her large extended Italian family!

Eileen Sanchez – Lead Teacher,  began her career at CWLC as a teacher assistant in the toddler room and became lead teacher in a short time. With an AA degree in Early Childhood Education and a life certificate from the state of California , Ms. Sanchez continues to attend classes and workshops in the field of Child Development and Early Childhood Education. Currently, Ms. Eileen is the lead teacher in the 3 – 4 year old room and most recently became a mom to her newborn daughter, Maya.

Cecilia Lossone – Lead teacher, originally from Brazil, holds a BA degree in Sociology from USC. Originally hired at Children’s World in 2008, Cecilia assisted for three years in the Pre-K class while continuing her education. She recently earned her California Child Development Site Supervisor Permit and is now the lead teacher of our Pre-K program. Cecilia enjoys music and volleyball with her husband and two sons ages 13 and 8 years.

Maggie Hernandez – Lead Teacher, has been with Children’s World Learning Center since 2008. While assisting  three years in the 2 – 3 year old class, Maggie earned her AA degree in Child Development from LA Harbor College and most recently took over the duties of lead teacher in the 2 – 3 year old class. In her spare time, Maggie enjoys being with her large family and spending time with friends.

Monica Alvarado – Associate Teacher, is new to our staff as the Center’s afternoon extended care teacher. With previous experience working with young children, Monica is currently attending El Camino College to earn an Associate of Arts Degree in Child Development and Early childhood Education. Monica enjoys  hiking, surfing, snowboarding and skating during her leisure time.
