Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a daycare center and a preschool?
A daycare or childcare center is designed to provide safe care for your child, while a preschool is intended to stimulate learning, creativity, and essential skills development to prepare your child for future learning. Children’s World Learning Center (CWLC) is a preschool with a child care component.

What is the Center’s educational philosophy?
Our philosophy is to provide a loving, happy and safe place for young children to learn and grow as we bridge the gap between home and school with a developmentally appropriate curriculum as set forth by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Our staff supports a positive self —image in each child while building the social and developmental skills to successfully begin kindergarten.

Do you have a Pre-Kindergarten program?
Our pre-kindergarten curriculum is planned according to the readiness standards of the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District while remaining developmentally appropriate and focuses on the many readiness skills to successfully enter kindergarten.

What is the Center’s children-to-teacher ratio?
Our children-to-teacher ratio is 7 to 1. That figure can vary from day to day depending on absences, but we maintain staff to ensure a maximum ratio of 7 to 1.

Why are small group sizes important?
Small group sizes are correlated with children being more active in their learning and give teachers more opportunities to help children develop language proficiency and developmental skills, Small group sizes encourage development of children’s exploration and problem solving skills and children become more engaged in social interactions.

What is the Center’s staff turnover rate?
Our staff turnover rate is very low because we create a positive environment not only for the children, but also for the staff.

What are your hours of operation?
CWLC is open year round 7:30 a.m. — 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

CWLC offers 3. 4 or 5-day enrollment schedules with half day or full day options and are flexible to meet the many needs of today’s busy parents.
